MCPNav

Give your AI the whole MCP directory

MCPNav itself is an MCP server. Add it to Claude (Desktop or Code), Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf, and your assistant can search 20,000+ MCP servers, look up any listing and hand you a ready-to-paste client config — without leaving the chat. Endpoint: https://mcpnav.net/mcp · read-only, no key required.

Verified working 2026-10-15 (initialize / tools/list / tools/call all pass against the live endpoint — see the endpoint's own docs at /mcp).

What you can ask

Tools exposed

ToolWhat it returns
search_serversSearch the directory by keyword and/or category. Returns ranked matches with slugs, publishers, transports and listing URLs.
get_serverFetch one server's full record: description, install commands, a copy-paste mcpServers config and the environment variables it needs.
list_categoriesList all 23 categories with server counts and browse URLs.

Building a bigger setup by hand? Use the config generator to combine several servers into one file, or the endpoint docs at /mcp.

FAQ

What can Claude do with the MCPNav server?

Three tools: search_servers (keyword + category search across 20,000+ listings), get_server (one server's full record: description, install commands, client config, environment variables) and list_categories (all categories with counts). So you can ask “find me an MCP server for X” and get an answer with a ready-to-paste config.

Is it free? Do I need a key?

Free and keyless. The endpoint is read-only, needs no account, and returns the same data as the website.

Does it write anything or track me?

No. The server exposes read-only tools (search and lookup) and serves the same public directory data as the site. No prompts or data are stored.
